Cantilevered stone staircases were first introduced into England from Venice in the early 17th century by Indigo Jones and have been used in many of the great country and town houses of Europe since that time.
The elegance of cantilevered stone staircases cannot be equalled with any other material. The staircase structure allows the opportunity to maximise the light and space in a stairwell whilst providing stunning architectural detail.
CWO is also able to design, produce and build various types of stone stairs such as elliptical, helical or stone spiral staircases. We are currently restoring the internal stone spiral staircase for The Monument, London - one of our major restoration projects.
Design & Production of Cantilever Staircases
CWO has produced and installed many stone stairs over the years. Each stone staircase is unique, starting in the drawing office where the workshop drawings for the cantilever stairs are developed from architect’s drawings or designed in house from scratch to the client’s individual needs. Each step for the cantilever stair is then produced in our workshop using some of the most advanced machinery in the industry, guaranteeing the accuracy. The stone stairs are then hand finished and despatched to site for fixing by our award winning masons.
