CWO’s award winning stonemasons and stone carvers are of the highest standards, our extensive training program tailored to each individual’s strength and career path means our masons are able to produce the very highest quality masonry, specialist stone carvings and statuary.
Carving sculptural stone is our speciality; our masons have extensive experience in working on famous and well known heritage and listed buildings, particularly in London. The restoration and conservation work often involves the necessity to completely replace or make detailed stone repair to specialist stone carvings and sculptures.
Classical Stone Carving Designs
Specialist items of stone carvings produced in the CWO workshops range from gargoyles and wild beasts to ornate Corinthian capitals, shields and ornamental fountains. Some award winning specialist stone carvings were produced for the external decorations to a large restoration project to a property in London including carved sea serpents classical cornices, bases, pilasters, capitals and window openings. All of these works were produced by our dedicated stone carvers in our workshop and then fixed on site.
For the most detailed carving stone features, a full size mock up is prepared beforehand in clay and then subject to approval, the specialist stone carving can proceed.
Modern Stone Carving Designs
As well as the more traditional types of carving stone, CWO has also worked on carving modern sculptural stone, designed and commissioned as a feature in a Park environment. Produced in our workshop mainly from Portland stone our stone carvers have completed modern bench seating arrangements designed by young architects as well as a very modern four sided sculpture.
